Chat GPT, powered by OpenAI, brings a new dimension to your eDirectory platform. With its intelligent assistance, you can elevate the experience of adding listings to your site. Chat GPT assists in creating engaging summary descriptions and detailed descriptions for various content types, including listings, events, classifieds, articles, and deals. Here, we'll guide you on how to seamlessly integrate Chat GPT with eDirectory version 13.3.00, providing you and your users with a powerful content generation tool.


Getting Started


1. Create a Developer Account on OpenAI:


  • To initiate the integration, you'll need to create a developer account on OpenAI. Visit OpenAI's Developer Platform and sign up on this link: OpenAI's Developer Platform. 

2. Generate a Secret Key:




Note: You'll need a valid credit card associated with your OpenAI account to use this API.


Note: For cost control, we recommend setting up usage limits under "Menu" -> "Billing" -> "Usage limits."




3. Integrate the Secret Key into eDirectory:


  • Within your eDirectory admin panel, go to "Settings" -> "General Settings."
  • Locate the "AI Auto Suggest" section and paste your OpenAI API key.
  • Be sure to save your changes.
  • Additionally, you can enable or disable the integration for sponsors.


4. Enable Auto Suggest for Different Content Types:


  • Once enabled for sponsors, the "Auto Suggest" feature is available for various content types, including listings, events, and classifieds under settings → Manage levels & pricing → AI auto suggest:




Note: Articles and Deals are enabled by default.



5. Access AI Features on Listing Entry Forms:


  • After enabling the integration, users will see the "AI Assistant" and "AI Auto-Suggest" links within the listing entry forms.

6. AI Auto-Suggest:


  • To generate content from a predefined prompt, users can click on "AI Auto-Suggest" within the entry form.
  • Note that the item must have at least a title and categories to enable this feature.
  • After the initial suggestion, users can click on "Change Response" to interact further with the AI and fine-tune the content to meet their specific requirements.


7. AI Assistant:


  • The "AI Assistant" feature allows users to start a chat without an initial prompt, providing them with a more open-ended interaction with the AI.


Note: The Chat GPT integration is only available from eDirectory version 13.3.00 and above. If your site is not version 13.3.00, and you would like to have this integration, contact our support team on support@edirectory.com for more information on how to upgrade your site.
