We have several different widgets to better display your categories and locations according to what you would like for your business:

Location

Browse By Location: This widget allows you to display all the locations which were configured on your site. It functions as a filter for searches, so that when users click on a location, they will be redirected to a results page with a list of all listings associated with the selected location. 

Attention: In order to work properly, this widget needs the following:

1- There must be locations added to your site. In order to add them, please, check this article: How do I add Additional Locations to my site?
2- The listings must have the locations added to them on the listing form:
3- The listings must be "Active" in the site in order to display the locations.

In order to add the Browse by location widget, please, follow these steps:

1- Go to Design → Page Editor → Home Page → Edit:

Note: We are using the Home page as an example of how to add the browse by location widget, but it is possible to add this same widget on other pages of the site.

2- Click on "Add a widget": 

3- Click on Common and add the Browse by location widget:

4- Click to edit the widget:

5- On the edit area of the widget, you can configure:

• Browse by location: This is the title of the widget, and it will be displayed on the widget header. 
• More locations: This is the label which will redirect the user to a page with more locations when clicked on. 
• Display banners: It is possible to configure this widget to display banners or not. 
• Background color: Configure here, the background color for this widget. 
• Enable counter: The counter displays how many listings there are in a determined location. You can enable or disable it.  
• Apply changes to all pages using this widget: When checked, this option will apply all the changes made to all pages using this widget. 

Categories

There are 5 types of category widgets to display on eDirectory. Here are the details about them. 

Featured Categories With Icons: This widget is responsible to displaying the categories in an icon format. 
In order to add this widget, please, follow these steps:

1- Go to Design → Page Editor → Home Page → Edit:

Note: We are using the Home page as an example of how to add the browse by location widget, but it is possible to add this same widget on other pages of the site.

2- Click on "Add a widget": 

3- Click on  the Feature categories with icons widget:

4- Click to edit the widget:

5- On the edit area of the widget, you can configure:

• Category Type: Choose here from which modules you would like to display categories: Listings, events, articles, classifieds etc. 
• Find by category: This is the title of the widget, and it will be displayed on the widget header. 
• All categories: This is the label which will redirect the user to a page with more categories when clicked on. 
• Background color: Configure here, the background color for this widget. 
• Enable counter: The counter displays how many listings there are in a determined category. You can enable or disable it.  
• Apply changes to all pages using this widget: When checked, this option will apply all the changes made to all pages using this widget.

Featured Categories With Images: This widget is responsible for displaying the categories with images. 
In order to add this widget, please, follow these steps:

1- Follow the same previous steps from step 1 to 2

2- Click on the Feature categories with images widget:

• Category Type: Choose here from which modules you would like to display categories: Listings, events, articles, classifieds etc. 
• Browse by category: This is the title of the widget, and it will be displayed on the widget header. 
• More categories: This is the label which will redirect the user to a page with more categories when clicked on. 
• Display banners: It is possible to configure this widget to display banners or not.
• Background color: Configure here, the background color for this widget.

Featured Categories (Type 2): This widget is responsible for displaying the categories in carousel format. In order to add this widget, please, follow these steps:

1- Follow the same previous steps from step 1 to 2

2- Click on the Feature categories (Type 2) widget:

3- Click to edit the widget:

4-  On the edit area of the widget, you can configure:

• Category Type: Choose here from which modules you would like to display categories: Listings, events, articles, classifieds etc. 
• Title: This is the title of the widget, and it will be displayed on the widget header.  
• Background color: Configure here, the background color for this widget. 
• Enable counter: The counter displays how many listings there are in a determined category. You can enable or disable it.  
• Apply changes to all pages using this widget: When checked, this option will apply all the changes made to all pages using this widget.

Attention: In order to display images on category widgets with images, go to Content → Listings → Categories → click to edit the category:


Upload an image to the Thumbnail option to display images on the widgets "Categories with images" or "categories with images (type 2)". Upload an image on the icon option to display the icons on the widget "Featured categories with icons" 

Notice: If you would like the category to be displayed on the widgets, there are two conditions that must be fulfilled:

1- When clicking to edit a category, check the box "Featured" shown above. The category will only be displayed if this option is checked.
2- The other mandatory condition for a category to be displayed is to be associated with a listing, or in other words, it is needed to add the categories to the listings:
